The City of Hartshorne has observed a fish kill at Hartshorne City Lake, which appears to have resulted from the lake turning over. The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation has been on-site conducting water testing yesterday and today. Once their official report is released, we will share the findings on the City’s website.
In the meantime, we are asking the public to avoid using the lake until further notice. A cleanup plan is being put in place and initial efforts will begin today, with additional work continuing into next week. Please be aware that more dead fish may surface over the weekend.
We appreciate the community’s cooperation and patience as we address this natural issue.
